Penpluspaper Ltd is an illustration studio based in London. As architects and urban designers ourselves, we understand how to best illustrate the design intentions behind a project, from inception to completion. 

We are not bound to a style. We draw from a variety of techniques and mediums to select the one that best showcases your ideas, from model making to photography, collage, hand-sketching and painting.

We firmly believe that in a digital age, traditional mediums are still a valuable way of portraying ideas.

Vision documents & storytelling

Our visually rich vision documents can help build a compelling case for architectural or larger scale schemes. This is many times key to secure planning permission.

Using vibrant hand-sketching illustrations, we convey the virtues and key moves of a design to communities, local authorities and other stakeholders, regardless of scale and scope. 

Design codes, guides & toolkits

We help local authorities and parishes in the UK to illustrate the parameters and qualities that need to guide new development. 

We produce design guides and toolkits for complex masterplans. In projects with heterogeneous teams, design guides are key to guarantee a consistent and high-quality standard of design.

Architectural illustration

We work closely with architects and urban designers. We help bring their designs to life into complete illustrations built from a general massing base or even a draft plan and a conversation.

Our illustrations make designs into places. Our sketches add context, colour, furnishings, light, and fill the designs with people while communicating the ideals behind them.
